At
every turn
Down every road and alleyway
This city is alive
There’s
an electricity humming
That doesn't cease
Not by day or by night
Of
course the crime is down
There are five hundred witnesses on every block
With accounts of what transpired in thirty languages
True
enough, the world lives here
Come greet the globe with all your senses
Numb you cannot be
Live
on this island for fifty years
And you still can't claim it as your own
It changes every day

So
much to do
But never enough time here
Though most will try
They
emerge, days later
Exhausted, invigorated, in awe
This city is alive
Ezy
Reading is out every Monday.
